Foundational Hymns | Janauary 2022 | Wie Schöne Leuchtet (1982 - 496/497)
This is the first in the series of Foundational Hymns - those hymns written at the beginning of the founding of the protestant church. Each month a new hymn will be featured and explored in the service at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Honeybrook PA.

The first in the sereis is 'Wie Schöne Leuchtet' (How bright appears the morning star). It can be found in the 1982 Hymnal (episcopal) as hymns #496 and 497. This video displays two versions of this hymn: First an isometric version harmonized by J.S. Bach and then the original as outlined by Phillip Nicolai.

Whch version do you like best?
